Enel and Legambiente revitalize parks and beaches in Italy

Over 300 Enel volunteers collecting waste to improve public spaces in Italy.

Enel volunteers, in collaboration with Legambiente’s Corporate Volunteering Program, have carried out a significant environmental revitalization initiative by cleaning urban parks and beaches across Italy. The goal was to strengthen ties with local communities, improve public spaces, and create value for the environment, raising awareness about the importance of protecting these areas.

Over 300 volunteers help revitalize parks and coastal areas across Italy

This initiative, part of Enel’s corporate volunteering program, saw the participation of over 300 employees. They were involved in waste collection, urban revitalization, and general cleanup activities. The ten events organized took place in various Italian cities, including Ameglia (La Spezia), Milan, Catania, Catanzaro, Naples, Padua, Palermo, Sassari, Pescara, and Turin. These cities were selected to cover a wide range of locations, both urban and coastal, where the impact of waste and pollution is often most visible.

Impact of the Enel and Legambiente collaboration: results of the environmental cleanup

The volunteers’ efforts led to the collection of over 600 kg of non-recyclable waste, 400 kg of glass, 400 kg of metal, and more than 200 kg of plastic. Additionally, about 30 kg of cigarette butts and litter were removed, reducing pollution in public areas and improving the quality of urban and coastal spaces. The cleanup significantly enhanced the areas’ appearance and helped create cleaner, safer environments for local residents and visitors.

A sustainable corporate volunteering model: Enel and Legambiente’s role in community engagement

The collaboration between Enel and Legambiente demonstrates how companies can play a key role in building more sustainable and aware communities. The initiative is fully aligned with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, promoting a circular economy model and greater environmental responsibility.

Volunteering for a cleaner environment: raising awareness through action

In addition to waste collection, the volunteer days also served as an opportunity for education and awareness. Participants learned about the importance of protecting public spaces, reducing pollution, and supporting a circular economy through hands-on experience and interactive sessions. This combined effort showed the value of corporate responsibility in contributing to environmental and social goals.

This initiative highlights the importance of collaboration between companies, communities, and local organizations in driving positive change. The hope is that similar projects can grow, further improving both the quality of life and the environment for everyone involved.
